White & Case Partner Move Strengthens Asia-Pacific Asset Finance Practice

London, Singapore, April 8, 2009 ... Global law firm White & Case LLP has appointed Sebastian Buss to local partner within the Firm's Asia Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Practice Group. Sebastian has recently moved to the Singapore office from London to take on the role within the asset finance team. Sebastian has extensive experience in the field of aviation finance and leasing transactions as well as a broad background in international finance transactions with a particular focus on project finance.

"The Asia-Pacific asset finance and aviation finance market is growing and it is essential for our continued success within the market to continue to grow our practice as well," commented Sebastian Buss, local partner, White & Case. "I look forward to the challenges my new role will bring and joining an already strong team."

"Sebastian's experience is an asset to the Firm and we are pleased to have him on the ground in Singapore to build further on our strong reputation and expand our practice in the Asia-Pacific region," comments Justin Benson, partner, White & Case. "We have noticed significant growth levels within the Asia-Pacific region, especially within the Aviation sector and believe it is crucial for us to strengthen our capabilities, especially in English Law, in order to effectively meet all of our clients needs."

Sebastian Buss joined White & Case in London in November 2000, where he has worked on a number of high profile aviation and project finance transactions. Prior to joining White & Case, Sebastian was an associate solicitor at a Magic Circle firm in London. Sebastian's move to Singapore is also part of the Firm's commitment to building its capabilities in Singapore further, following its success in being granted a Qualifying Foreign Law Practice licence. The office has been strengthened in the last twelve months with the addition of Kaya Proudian (Capital Markets), Doug Peel (Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance), Will Kirschner (M&A) and Kate Allchurch (Bank Finance).

Singapore is an important hub for the Firm's business in Southeast Asia and South Asia, as well as acting as the principal hub for the Firm's India practice. White & Case has a leading reputation in Asia in the asset finance arena with offices in Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo. The Asset Finance team is known best for its aircraft finance practice, which involves all types of aircraft leasing and finance matters, including operating leasing, leveraged leasing, secured leasing, securitizations, warehouse facilities, export credit supported transactions, portfolio acquisitions, manufacturer supported transactions and restructurings. The Firm has also advised on numerous significant transactions in the telecommunications sector and tax based lease financings. In Asia, its ability to provide US, UK and local law advice provides the anchor for these sophisticated transaction structures and its extensive knowledge of the different techniques required on major asset finance transactions sets the Firm apart.
