White & Case Names Two New Counsel in Paris

September 6, 2007 ... White & Case has announced the promotion of two lawyers, Juliette Goyer and Christophe von Krause, to counsel, reflecting the continuing development of its presence in the areas of competition law and international arbitration.
Juliette Goyer specializes in French and EC Competition law. She joined White & Case in 2004 and has since then actively contributed to the development of White & Case's Competition group. Juliette is a graduate of University of Paris II Pantheon-Assas and holds an LL.M. in literary, artistic and industrial property law. She was admitted to the Paris bar in 1995. Juliette advises investment funds and banks as well as industrial and services firms. Her experience covers the entire competition law field, with a particular focus on litigation relating to anticompetitive practices (cartels, abuses of dominant position), distribution law and merger control.
Christophe von Krause was admitted to the Paris bar in 1995 and joined White & Case in 2001. He is a member of the International Arbitration Practice. Christophe is a graduate of University of Paris II Pantheon-Assas and holds a post-graduate degree in business law (DESS-DJCE). He has appeared before a wide variety of international arbitral tribunals with a particular focus on arbitrations under the rules of the International chamber of commerce. Christophe has experience of advocacy in both French and English. His experience focuses on disputes in connection with the performance of international contracts, particularly in the areas of construction, energy, hotels and industrial sectors, as well as post-acquisition disputes.

The Competition group at White & Case, which was recently reinforced with the arrival of Jean-Paul Tran Thiet as a partner, now includes two partners, one counsel and eight associates in Paris and 140 lawyers worldwide, including 35 partners. The team has seen significant development in demand in connection with increased levels of merger and acquisition activity and a number of major disputes, such as the Microsoft case.
International arbitration is a key area of focus for White & Case, particularly in Paris where there are 23 lawyers, including six partners and one counsel, in the International Arbitration team.
