White & Case Director of Pro Bono Appointed to Corporate Responsibility Group Board

London, October 4, 2007 ... Felicity Kirk, director of pro bono in White & Case's London office, has been appointed to the Corporate Responsibility Group (CRG) Board. The CRG is an organisation of 95 UK leading companies committed to corporate responsibility, set up and run by corporate responsibility practitioners to enable them to network and exchange information and ideas with their peers in different business sectors.

Felicity joined the London office of White & Case in 2001 as director of pro bono. This was the first such appointment by a US law firm in London. She is responsible for the pro bono programme in London and promotes pro bono activities across the Firm's network of European offices.

"Corporate social responsibility is a concept of great importance in today's business world, given both the monetary and human capital that organisations have access to, and one that is now widely accepted among the business community," commented Felicity. "This is a very exciting time for the Corporate Responsibility Group and I am both delighted and honoured to be appointed to its Board."

Other new appointments to the CRG Board include Anita Longley, head of corporate responsibility, RWE npower, and Joe Franses, corporate responsibility manager, Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd. Mike Kelly, head of KPMG LLP UK's corporate social responsibility, has been appointed chair of the CRG and Yogesh Chauhan, chief adviser corporate responsibility at the BBC, has been appointed deputy chair of the Board.

White & Case is committed to using its professional skills to help people in need and improve access to justice. Last year the Firm provided 63,000 hours of free legal advice worldwide, plus a substantial number of additional hours from business support staff on a growing programme of initiatives. Examples of work undertaken include: human rights-related cases, with the Firm currently working on a defence manual for Guantanamo Bay detainees and a war crimes tribunal work relating to Kosovo and Rwanda; acting as general counsel for the Homeless World Cup; and participating in Lawyers Without Borders, a global organisation of lawyers offering pro bono advice.
