White & Case Advises on Pluto LNG Project in Australia

Tokyo, October 18, 2007 ... White & Case has advised The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. on its agreements to purchase liquefied natural gas (LNG) on a long-term basis from the greenfield Pluto LNG Project in Western Australia, as well as to purchase a 5% equity share in the Project. The Project is being developed by Woodside Petroleum Ltd., the largest independent oil and gas producer in Australia. In addition, Kansai Electric has acquired options to participate in two additional LNG trains and three Woodside exploration permits.

The LNG and equity sale and purchase agreements were signed in Sydney on August 24, 2007. The signing was attended by the Right Honorable John Howard MHR, Prime Minister of Australia.

Moreover, Kansai Electric will have a multi-faceted relationship with the Project, including in relation to LNG offtake, transportation and equity participation.
