Once a back office function, records management has risen to a CEO-level issue. In the wake of accounting scandals and the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, companies have focused their attention and their dollars on revising or creating records management programs.¹ Often, these programs center on when a company may destroy records. One office supply company reports seventy percent growth during a single year in sales of paper shredders to commercial customers.²
