White & Case Honored by Volunteers of Legal Service
October 6, 2009 Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS)
On 6 October 2009, Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS) celebrated its 25th Anniversary Reception in New York. White & Case was honored for meeting the VOLS Pro Bono Pledge -- providing at least an average of 30 hours of qualifying pro bono work per lawyer. The VOLS definition of qualifying pro bono work is limited to providing free civil legal services to underprivileged people or to organizations serving people with limited means.
Irina Yevmenenko (New York), who manages and directs the development and maintenance of White & Case’s Code Card Website Project, which provides instant access to critical contact information for a broad range of organizations dealing with social and legal intervention for the poor, accepted the award on behalf of the Firm. White & Case Pro Bono Counsel Jim Stillwaggon and Pro Bono Coordinator, Patrick Rickerfor, (New York) also attended the ceremony.
