Practice Experience
Sally Martin is a counsel in our Real Estate practice with extensive experience in handling all aspects of real estate, particularly landlord and tenant, acquisitions and disposals, refinancing real estate portfolios, sale and leasebacks, datacentres (on behalf of developers, service providers and occupiers) and real estate aspects of corporate, PFI and banking transactions.
Sally joined the Firm at the end of 2003 from a leading international law firm.
Examples of recent representations include:
- Advising London River Park Limited on the design and proposed implementation of the prestigious London River Park Project (backed by the Mayor of London), being a series of pontoons on a floating park proposed to be built on the River Thames in London;
- Advising Sochi Winter Olympics Committee on the proposed lease of an ice skating rink and associated facilities in Marble Arch, London, being a showcase for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia;
- Advising Nordic Capital on its head office move to new premises in central London;
- Acting for Mitie Group Plc in connection with a number of heat and energy outsourcing projects at various hospitals;
- Acting for Starwood Capital Europe on its £30 million acquisition of a multi-tenanted office tower in London and, subsequently on its joint venture with Great Portland Estates Plc, including the sale and purchase of adjoining premises and financing of the two properties;
- Acting for Doughty Hanson and Liberty Property Trust on their joint venture acquisition of Blythe Valley Business Park from The British Land Company Plc for up to £161 million;
- Acting for Doughty Hanson in relation to their joint venture with Liberty Property Trust and acquisition of 20 office buildings at Kings Hill Business Park, Kent;
- Acting for Land Securities Trillium in a precedent-setting property outsourcing arrangement with Barclays Bank PLC relating to surplus leasehold property (and including the sale and leaseback of three office buildings at Westwood Business Park in Coventry);
- Representing Land Securities Trillium on their corporate restructuring and refinancing programme connected to the outsourcing of hundreds of Government properties;
- Continued representation of Telereal Trillium on the running of its diverse property portfolio.
