Cleantech Symposium
June 7, 2010
White & Case recently hosted a panel discussion on "Cleantech Partnerships Across Borders: Cooperation Between Japanese Investors and American Innovators."
The symposium, conducted through videoconference between the Firm's Silicon Valley and Tokyo offices, brought lawyers from White & Case's Project Finance, Tax, Intellectual Property and Corporate practices, together with executives from the utilities, venture capital and investment banking sectors, Japanese electronics and automobile manufacturers and early-stage solar energy and energy efficiency companies. Together, the participants explored the critical business issues and legal challenges confronting Japanese investors in clean technology development in the United States.
The first panel discussion includes several White & Case lawyers and focuses on a hypothetical scenario involving two fictional solar power companies in Japan and the United States and the challenges/opportunities facing these companies in forming a joint venture.
