Practice Experience
Thomas Flynn is an associate in White & Case's Silicon Valley office and a member of the firm's intellectual property practice group. His practice focuses on intellectual property litigation, particularly patent and trademark litigation. Mr. Flynn has advised clients in the semiconductor, computer hardware, computer software, and consumer electronics industries.

Mr. Flynn has experience representing clients in patent cases before numerous US District Courts and the Federal Circuit, and experience representing trademark clients in opposition and appeal proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Some of Mr. Flynn's notable recent engagements include:
  • Representation of a major fabless semiconductor manufacturer in a declaratory judgment action involving wireless networking technology.
  • Representation of a leading software company in multiple patent infringement cases involving search, software development, and online editing and publishing technologies.
  • Representation of a leading semiconductor foundry in trademark opposition proceedings at the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in subsequent settlement negotiations.
  • Representation of a manufacturer of consumer electronics in Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings overcoming generic rejection and leading to the registration of its trademark.

In addition to his litigation experience, Mr. Flynn has assisted clients in the negotiation of multiple settlements agreements in patent infringement cases.

Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Flynn worked at the Institute for International Economics in Washington, DC, specializing in international trade and Chinese monetary policy.
