On March 17, 2010, White & Case partners Eric Grannon and Daniel Levin (Washington, DC) were the featured presenters at a media briefing hosted by the Washington Legal Foundation (WLF)and moderated by former US Attorney General Dick Thornburgh entitled, “Free Enterprise & Criminal Law: Is Today’s Brand of Federal Enforcement Compromising Business Civil Liberties?” The event, which was webcast live to a large audience around the country, also commemorated the formal release of the second edition of WLF’s “Special Report: Federal Erosion of Business Civil Liberties,” which documents the rapid and often arbitrary expansion of federal criminal law and the trend to criminalize the regulation of business activities. The following summarizes the comments of the participants.
