Each year we hold a variety of events to help develop our client relationships and support the success of our women lawyers.

On February 17, 2011, the Washington, DC women's network, in conjunction with the National Association of Women Judges (NAWJ), hosted a Color of Justice program for seventh and eighth grade students from the Washington Middle School for Girls (WMSG) at our Washington, DC office. The event’s purpose was to expose and educate the WMSG students about different opportunities in the legal profession and featured judges, law clerks, law professors, local high school administrators, local high school students, White & Case attorneys and legal assistants who discussed their experiences. The day included several discussion panels, a trivia lunch, and a MentorJet program where students had the opportunity to meet and talk with the attendees about the legal profession.

Partners in the US hosted clients for dinner at The Modern at the Museum of Modern Art, which featured remarks by Jacqueline Novogratz, founder and CEO of Acumen Fund and author of The New York Times bestseller, The Blue Sweater. Jacqueline discussed Acumen Fund's work and her perspective on the impact of social investment on the global community. Acumen Fund, a pro bono client of the Firm, is an innovative social venture fund that invests in enterprises providing critical goods and services to the poor in India, Pakistan and East Africa.

The New York office Women's Network hosted clients for an evening behind the scenes at the Metropolitan Opera. The event featured a talk by Cory Toevs, Assistant Manager of the Met, about how the season is put together and productions are created from both a business and creative point of view. Guests went on tours that took them behind the scenes and onto the stage, pictured below.

The Paris office held a cocktail event to launch the White & Case Women’s Initiative in France. We welcomed as our guest speaker Mme Guylaine Saucier, who is on the Boards of major companies in France and Canada. Guylaine Saucier has long been involved with efforts to develop the role of women in business. The event was attended by clients of the Firm, as well as partners and associates of the Paris office and other White & Case European offices.

The London Women Lawyers Network jointly with Deutsche Bank Women's Legal Forum hosted an event on women in leadership. Robert Rowland Smith, writer and broadcaster, spoke about the underlying philosophy and psychology of leadership by both men and women, looking at how women have been perceived through history, before coming up to the present day to examine the role of women in the workplace and their growing impact.

In Hong Kong, our Asia Women's Network held a luncheon panel discussion on "What Women Should Know for a Successful Career in Asia" for clients and White & Case lawyers. The panel of senior women professionals from leading companies and firms were joined by White & Case partner Vivian Tsoi. Over an engaging and often humorous discussion, the panelists offered thoughts on what helped them succeed, and discussed keys to successful mentoring, challenges in advancing to leadership positions, working across different cultures and the importance of developing leadership skills. This event followed a series of communication workshops offered to our women lawyers across the five Asian offices – Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.

Our Brussels office will be hosting a networking event for clients later this fall to view the exhibition "America, It's Also Our History: Three centuries of relationships between Europe and the United States."

The Silicon Valley and Los Angeles Women's Networks will be holding a half day seminar and workshop on "Projecting Credibility and Confidence," which uses a combination of lecture, exercises and direct feedback to help participants increase awareness of their personality style and provide practical tips.
