Obama's Hacking Law Could Comfort Corporate Targets

President Barack Obama is urging Congress to amend the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act in order to help prosecutors and businesses fight back against hackers.

"In light of recent events and the greater frequency with which we are seeing hacks and security breaches, I think people are demanding something be done," White & Case LLP partner Daren Orzechowski said. "There's a clear intention on the part of the Obama administration to better enable law enforcement to help companies go after hackers and increase some of the penalties, so now the question becomes whether there can be an agreement between the administration and Congress."
