Global law firm White & Case has advised international healthcare group Bupa on the proposed €400 million (£325.5 million) acquisition of LUXMED Group, the largest healthcare provider in Poland.
"White & Case was delighted to work with Bupa in their entry into the Polish healthcare market through the acquisition of the LUXMED Group from Mid Europa Partners," said London partner John Cunningham. "It was a pleasure coordinating lawyers from across five White & Case offices supporting the Bupa team in delivering the transaction in a dynamic, competitive environment."
Marcin Studniarek, partner in White & Case's Warsaw office, said: "The entry of Bupa into the Polish healthcare market is a testament to the stability of the regulatory and political environment in Poland. We believe that this is a bellwether for further investment by blue-chip multinationals looking to tap the Polish growth story."
The acquisition - Bupa's first venture into Central Eastern Europe - is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to take between two and three months to complete.
The LUXMED Group is currently owned by private equity firm Mid Europa Partners and has more than 100 clinics across Poland, employing 8,000 people.
The White & Case team was led by M&A partners Rob Irving (Budapest), John Cunningham (London) and Marcin Studniarek (Warsaw) supported by local partner Aneta Hajska (Warsaw) and associates Jaroslaw Czernek (London) and Joanna Danilowicz (Warsaw).
