Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Olympique Lyonnais (OL), a French Ligue 1 football club, on the refinancing of its stadium Parc Olympique Lyonnais, which was launched in January 2016, and the group’s bank and bond debt.
The refinancing, for a total amount of €260 million, is comprised of two instruments – a bank loan agreement for a total amount of €209 million and a €51 million bond issue. As part of the refinancing package, OL completed a corporate restructuring through a merger of its main operating company that owns the football club and the company owning the stadium.
White & Case previously advised OL on the original project financing for the construction of the stadium in 2013.
The White & Case team in Paris which advised on the transaction was led by partner Victoria Westcott with support from associates Florent Rigaud, Charlène Ntsiba and Renaud Nething. Partner Grégoire Karila, with support from associate Petya Georgieva, advised on the bond issue. Associates Jean Paszkudzki and Louis Feuillée advised on corporate aspects.
