Ms. Ovečková specializes in commercial law and legal theory, which she taught for many years at the Department of Commercial and Financial Law at the Comenius University School of Law, in Bratislava.
In 1961, she became an employee of the Institute of State and Law of the Slovak Academy of Science. From 1988 until 1995, she was the director of this institute. She has co-authored numerous publications and monographs, including "Liability under Economics Law" (1983) and "Dictionary of Slovak Commercial Law" (1996), "Contractual Penalty" 1st ed. (2004), 2nd amended and supplemented edition (2011), "The Slovak Commercial Code, Commentary" I., II. 1st ed. (2005), 2nd edition (2008), 3rd edition (2011) and "Statutes of Limitations in Commercial Law" (2015). Dozens of her publications have appeared in professional and academic magazines in the Slovak Republic and abroad.
Since joining White & Case Bratislava, Ms. Ovečková has worked on numerous transactions in the field of privatization, real estate law and commercial law. Among others, she has represented Deloitte & Touche, the financial advisors to the Ministry of Economics of the Slovak Republic with respect to the privatization of Transpetrol, a.s., the Slovak company operating the transit oil pipeline.
She has also advised AIG/Lincoln CZ in its purchase of real estate and the subsequent financing and development of an industrial zone in the town of Malacky in Slovakia.
Ms. Ovečková was also a member of the team of lawyers from the Bratislava office who participated in the preparation of the Advocacy Law, the amended Slovak Act on Advocacy, Slovak Act on Investment Incentives and its amendment and several amendments to the Slovak Commercial Code.
