Biography

Overview

Sven works in the field of insolvency administration. He is being appointed as an insolvency administrator at the Local Courts of Flensburg, Hamburg, Kiel and Neumünster. Special emphasis is on the continuation and liquidation of companies from a wide range of industries as well as mergers and acquisitions and dealing with the accompanying legal issues. The insolvency proceedings handled by our insolvency administrators and their teams - including Sven - always show above-average quota levels as well as above-average job retention.

Sven has acquired particular expertise in the maritime sector. He has supported insolvency administrators in around 70 insolvencies of single-ship companies. Here he was active both in the operational area and in dealing with legal issues. Among other things, he conducted negotiations with suppliers, banks and customers and was responsible for the sale of the respective assets, in particular the ships.

In addition, Sven's work also focuses on handling insolvency proceedings for natural persons and estate insolvency proceedings. He has also assisted with self-administration proceedings on behalf of debtors, administrators and creditors.

Prior to joining White & Case in 2010, Sven Hentschel worked for many years in an insolvency administrator's office in Hamburg, where he supported insolvency administrators in the handling of insolvency proceedings with up to 400 employees in Northern Germany.

After being admitted to the bar (Rechtsanwalt), he initially worked for three years in our Munich office for the insolvency administrator there. At the same time, he supported Dr. Sven-Holger Undritz independently in handling insolvency proceedings at the Flensburg and Hamburg insolvency courts. In 2013, Sven Hentschel moved back to Hamburg and intensified his work for the insolvency courts in Northern Germany. Since then, he has been working at the firm's offices in Flensburg and Hamburg.

In February 2020, Sven Hentschel successfully completed the specialist lawyer course in insolvency law at the DeutscheAnwaltsAkademie to obtain the specific knowledge in insolvency law required by the Rules pertaining to Bar-approved Specialist Lawyers. After he was also able to demonstrate the practical experience, the board of the Hanseatic Bar Association authorized him in March 2022 to use the title of Specialist Lawyer (Fachanwalt) for insolvency and restructuring law.
