The capture, flow, storage, and analysis of large amounts of data ("Big Data") are transforming our world, as individuals, as consumers, as workers and as a society. The IoT provides an interface for us between ordinary physical objects around us (packages, light switches, thermostats, etc.) and Big Data somewhere in "the Cloud."
As the innovators explain the capabilities and visions for the future that Big Data and IoT will provide, discussions among policy makers, regulators, and yes, lawyers, are happening all the time now—this seminar series being one of them.
In this session, we will explore the ways in which the application of Big Data and IoT has created new risks or run-up against the prevailing laws and regulations that were not enacted with these revolutionary technologies in mind.
