Firm Credited on Three Americas Deals of the Year 2007

Three projects on which White & Case provided legal counsel have been named Americas Deals of the Year 2007 by Project Finance Magazine:

Sandy Creek—North American Single Asset Power Deal of the Year

White & Case represented LS Power and Dynegy Energy in connection with the development and project financing of the 900 MW coal-fired Sandy Creek power project in Texas, one of the most challenging power deals to come to market in 2007. The financing was originally targeted for the hedge fund "B" loan market, but had to be restructured prior to closing as a result of the debt crisis in Summer 2007, and was ultimately placed in the traditional commercial bank project finance market. Lead White & Case advisors were partners Arthur Scavone and Lawrence Gannon.

Nueva Ventanas—Latin American Power Deal of the Year

White & Case advised on the $440 million project financing for Empresa Electrica Ventanas, also known as Nueva Ventanas, a Chilean power plant. The project, under development by AES Gener, involved an advanced loan structure, featuring fixed capacity payments sized to cover the project's fixed charges and repay debt plus an energy payment for the energy produced. Partners Troy Alexander and Sandra Warren in New York were the advisors for lead arrangers, Fortis and Calyon.

FARAC—Latin American Transport Deal of the Year

On this project, White & Case represented Goldman Sachs and Ingenieros Civiles Asociados as sponsors in the financing of a 30 year toll roads concession from the Ministry of Communications and Transport in Mexico. The concessionaire won the rights to operate and maintain over 550 kilometres of toll roads in the states of Michoacan, Jalisco, Guanajuato and Aguascalientes. At US$4.1 billion, this was the largest infrastructure project to close in the Americas in 2007. Tomer Pinkusiewicz (New York), Ned Neaher (Washington DC) and Vicente Corta (Mexico City) were the lead White & Case partners.
