Votorantim and Eskom Named Deals of the Year

Trade Finance magazine recently announced the winners of its "Deals of the Year" for 2006. White & Case advised on two of the wining transactions:

• Votorantim
  The Firm advised the major Brazilian commodity group Votorantim (Votorantrade and VCP Overseas), the borrowers in a $1.2 billion deal which was the largest credit facility arranged for a Brazilian group at the time it closed (June 2006) and the longest tenor widely syndicated ever
• Eskom
  White & case played a key role in this EUR114 million transaction to improve South Africa's electricity supply. The loan will finance the import of seven gas turbines from Siemens in Germany, to be supplied to new power stations in the Western Cape. This deal not only finances part of a major capital expenditure program but is Eskom's first ECA borrowing for 15 years.
