International Arbitration Team of the Year

White & Case has been named International Arbitration Team of the Year at the Chambers USA Awards 2007.

The Firm edged out stiff competition from a shortlist featuring eight other leading firms in the arbitration field.

The awards are based on client research carried out over a 12-month period by the legal publishing and research organization, Chambers & Partners.

Paul Friedland, Co-Head of White & Case's global International Arbitration Group, collected the award at a ceremony held in New York on Thursday, June 14th.

In its commentary, Chambers said:

"Superiority in investor-state arbitration and emerging markets are the hallmarks of this global force which boasts a 40-strong US-based team. Examples of recent successes are a victory for PSEG Global in an ICSID arbitration against the Republic of Turkey, and for RWE Nukem in a long-running dispute against US Energy."

In addition to winning the International Arbitration award, White & Case was also shortlisted for International Trade Firm of the Year.

White & Case's US-based International Arbitration practice has performed strongly in recent editions of the key legal benchmarking directories, ranking Tier One in both Chambers USA 2007 and Legal 500 USA 2007.
