Practice Experience
David Baker is a partner in the Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group in London.  David's practice concentrates on energy infrastructure and project finance, with particular experience in the UK upstream and energy business and the international gas market, including LNG project financings in Africa and Asia.

Representative transactions include:

• Representing, as common counsel, of the export credit agencies, multi-lateral lenders and commercial bank lenders in connection with the US$20 billion project financing of the Sakhalin II (Phase 2) LNG Project in Russia.
• Representing the sponsors in the US$11.2 billion Qatargas II LNG project in Qatar.
• Representation of the International and Nigerian Arrangers in the US$1 billion project financing of the fourth and fifth trains on NLNG’s gas liquefaction complex in Nigeria in particular a substantial proportion of the due diligence including the sale and purchase agreements and gas supply agreements.
• Representation of the Arrangers (benefiting from ECA cover) in the project financing of a US$900 million urea-ammonia fertiliser plant in the Sultanate of Oman.
• Representation of the Arrangers in the €250,000,000 medium term financing for Gazprom secured by receivables under Gas Seller Contracts in Austria.
• Representation of a Bank on a strategic alliance with an electricity and gas supplier.
• Representation of Yukos Oil Company on a strategic alliance with Marathon Oil.
• Representation of EBRD in the US$60 million multi-lateral financing of the refurbishment of an oil field in Turkmenistan.
• Representation of the Lenders (benefiting from ECA cover) in the financing of a US$247 million methanol plant in Trinidad & Tobago.
• Representation of the Sponsors in the financing of a US$118.5 million financing of a gas-fired power project in Poland.
• Representation of one of the Bidders for the worldwide upstream oil and gas assets of Veba Oil & Gas GmbH.
• Representation of a Russian oil company in the acquisition of oil and gas assets.
• The drafting of a US oil and gas company’s standard form gas, electricity, oil sales and marketing contracts.
• Representation of a German listed energy company on a production sharing contract in Ethiopia.
• Representation of a UK listed oil and gas company on its production sharing contract in Bangladesh.
• Representation of a UK listed oil and gas company on its production sharing contract in Pakistan.
• Advising on an oil field rehabilitation project which involved the structuring, analysis and evaluation of investment proposals and a review of the various project agreements, and the privatisation of a major state owned joint stock company in Kazakhstan where he represented the Government.
• Advising numerous UK and non-UK oil and gas companies on licensing arrangements, joint operating agreements, sales agreements, unitisation agreements, transportation agreements and regulation of the industry at the National and European levels.
