White & Case represents industrial clients and governmental entities in environmental, toxic tort and related litigation. In the US, our lawyers represent clients in civil and criminal enforcement proceedings, disputes with the US Environmental Protection Agency, US Army Corps of Engineers, and other federal and state regulatory agencies and litigation brought under a variety of environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Endangered Species Act and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). White & Case also has extensive experience representing mining companies in federal and state environmental permitting proceedings and litigation associated with agency permitting decisions. Our lawyers have represented clients in environmental disputes across the United States, and in particular, in Washington, DC, New York, California and Florida. We have acted for both plaintiffs and defendants in environmental and land use litigation and have represented numerous prominent companies in state and federal courts. In 2003, the Firm obtained the largest recovery against a local government for a "temporary taking" of private property as a result of government regulation.
