White & Case has won two awards at the Trust Law Awards 2012, held in London on 3 December 2012.
The Firm received the 'Pro Bono Leaders Award for Best International Law Firm, 2012', which recognizes our work this year on twelve pro bono projects referred by Trust Law, many of which involved multiple White & Case offices, including Berlin, Helsinki, Hong Kong, Istanbul, London, Mexico City, Miami, New York, Paris, Singapore and Stockholm.
In addition, partner Melissa Butler and associate Tim Wood accepted the 'Innovation Award' award for the Firm's work advising Nexii, a global impact investment advisory firm, with the drafting of a suite of template documents for social entrepreneurs to use when applying to list debt and equity offerings on the iX, the world's first publically regulated social stock exchange board. A social stock exchange differs from a traditional stock exchange where, in addition to satisfying traditional sets of listing and disclosure standards, companies seeking to list need to demonstrate a clear social or environmental mission and have in place a reporting system for non-financial social impact. The iX is a collaboration between Nexii and the Stock Exchange of Mauritius. Dave Gossen and Philip Baldwin also assisted in advising Nexii.
The award recognizes an ambitious, landmark project that has the potential to facilitate the evolution of an entire sector and the team's exceptional work in ensuring its completion.
TrustLaw Connect was launched in June 2010 with the aim of spreading pro bono work globally, helping lawyers put their professional skills to work for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and social entrepreneurs with limited means (as well as governments on a case-by-case basis).
