Practice Experience

Jonathan is a partner in the Prague office and co-head of the CEE Banking & Finance practice specialising mainly in LBO transactions across Western and Eastern Europe, Russia and other emerging markets.

Jonathan Weinberg has extensive experience in a wide range of finance products, having acted, primarily for banks, on transactions ranging from ship and other asset finance, project finance, LBO and hedge fund financings, as well as securitisations and other structured finance transactions. In addition, Jonathan has been involved in a number of high-profile restructurings.

Examples of recent representations include:

Acting for Goldman Sachs and UniCredit as mandated lead arranger in connection with the provision of credit facilities to a Lion Capital incorporated SPV for the acquisition of Russian juice manufacturer OAO Nidan Soki by Lion. The financing comprised senior, second lien mezzanine and PIK facilities;
Acting for Goldman Sachs, UniCredit, ING and RZB as mandated lead arrangers in conection with the provision of a senior loan facility to a Lien SPV for the acquisition of a Russian vodka manufacturer and distributor;
Acting for Deutsche Bank in the provision of two index-linked term facilities of US$125 million to Ukrexim;
Acting for Deutsche Bank in a €1,275 million financing of a share acquisition by a major Russian mining concern; and
Acting for ING in connection with the financing of two natural gas developments in Kazakhstan an AIM-listed company.
