A Multilingual Team Our Latin America Practice Group encompasses more than 200 lawyers, the majority of which are fluent in Spanish or Portuguese and have extensive experience living and working in Latin America. We have a large number of lawyers on the ground in Latin America—in offices in Mexico City, Monterrey and São Paulo.
Experience Across the Americas White & Case has advised across virtually all Latin American jurisdictions. The Firm has a seamless network of offices supporting the region, including Miami, New York, Washington, DC and 31 others throughout the world.
In Mexico City, the practice benefits from the Firm’s excellent relationships with governmental and regulatory bodies, while in Monterrey, the focus is on corporate finance. Our office in São Paulo handles major debt and equity capital markets transactions and financings. In Miami, our lawyers regularly advise banks and companies active in Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as US and other foreign-based companies doing business in the region. In addition, our New York office focuses on regional bank finance, project finance and capital markets transactions, our Los Angeles office handles bank finance and asset finance work, while Washington, DC is the hub for much of our cutting-edge arbitration and international trade work in Latin America.
Breadth Across Industries Our lawyers generally handle the most complex and high-profile representations in the region and across all major industry sectors. Examples include: Argentina’s historic concurrent bank debt restructuring and bond exchange offer; the largest debt restructuring in Mexico; privatization work in every major country in the region; award-winning project finance work; record-setting M&A transactions; and in Brazil, the first ethanol producer in the world to establish a fully integrated platform from sugarcane plantation through production to retail fuels distribution.
