Practice Experience
Matej Firický joined White & Case in 2006. Previously, he worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Bratislava, where he obtained experience in the field of tax advisory for domestic and international clients. Mr. Firický concentrates in the following fields:
- indirect taxes with respect to banking, real estate, telecommunications and the automotive and armaments industries — he has participated in the preparation of tax returns and the provision of tax advisory services for multinational clients;
- direct taxes — he has experience in the preparation of tax returns for financial institutions and tax advisory services related to non-residents working in Slovakia, as well as ad-hoc advisory services for various domestic and international companies on issues concerning corporate taxes;
- accounting — he participates in audits for domestic and foreign companies;
- tax and legal due diligence of production facilities, companies providing services and territorial self-government authorities, as well as the representation of these institutions during tax inspections;
- structuring and restructuring of companies — (in particular mergers, acquisitions, divisions) in Slovakia for tax and legal optimization purposes for multinational financial institutions as well as Slovak companies with foreign participation; and
- state aid — he was engaged in the preparation of monitoring reports for state aid beneficiaries.
Mr. Firický has provided advisory services to the following clients: Doprastav, Peugeot Citroën, Enterprise Investors, Heitman, Škoda JS, Wood & Co., Komerční Banka, Citibank and ČSOB stavebná sporiteľňa.
