Practice Experience
Michael Shepherd is a partner in the Firm's Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Group. While his practice focuses on a broad range of business restructuring and reorganization matters, including representation of institutional creditors, bondholders, strategic investors and acquirers of distressed assets, Mr. Shepherd regularly represents troubled companies as debtors in possession.

Most recently, Mr. Shepherd acted as counsel to Centaur Gaming and its affiliates, developers and operators of horse racing and gaming properties, in their successful chapter 11 reorganization. Prior to that, Mr. Shepherd represented Global Safety Textiles and its overseas affiliates, Tier II automotive suppliers, in their complex cross-border restructuring. Mr. Shepherd's other company-side representations have included a national homebuilder in its chapter 11 reorganization, manufacturers of rubber and plastic products in their chapter 11 liquidation, and a regional wireless and wireline telecommunication service provider in its chapter 11 reorganization.

Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Shepherd served as law clerk to the Honorable S. Martin Teel, Jr., of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Columbia and the Honorable William F. Stone, Jr., of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia.
