Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice and Global Private Equity Industry Group with the addition of Phillip Sacks as a partner in Dubai.

"The continued growth of our global private equity group has significantly increased demand for funds support and it is critical we build-out our global funds capabilities to meet this demand," said White & Case partner John Reiss, head of the Firm's Global Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. "Phillip’s expertise and abilities make him the perfect fit to grow our funds team in the Middle East and support our financial sponsor clients there, working closely with our team globally."

Phillip advises financial institutions, fund managers and sovereign wealth funds on the structuring, establishment and closing of onshore and offshore conventional and Shari'ah-compliant investment funds including private equity funds, credit funds, hedge funds, infrastructure funds, real estate funds and venture capital funds. He also advises on structuring and forming parallel and co-investment vehicles and on the formation of regulated asset management entities. Phillip joins White & Case from Dechert, where he was a partner and head of the Middle East investment funds practice.

"Phillip is a recognised market leader with experience advising a wide range of financial sponsors on the full lifecycle of their funds," said White & Case partner Thierry Bosly, Regional Section Head, EMEA M&A/Private Equity. "Phillip has been advising funds clients in the Middle East for almost 20 years and will be integral to expanding our offering to our major clients in the region. His arrival supports the continued expansion of our funds capabilities following the strategic growth of our global mergers & acquisitions practice and private equity industry group in recent years."

White & Case partner and Vice Chair Oliver Brettle said: "The addition of Phillip follows the arrival of leading funds partner Emily Brown from Ropes & Gray in London earlier this month. Funds work is central to clients’ needs in the Middle East, a region White & Case has been active in for nearly seven decades. We expect Phillip will be working particularly closely with Emily and our Luxembourg office, with the funds team there led by partner Arnaud Cagi-Nicolau."
