White & Case Partner and Head of Latin American Arbitration, Jonathan C. Hamilton, has been appointed to the international arbitrator list of the Spanish Civil and Mercantile Court of Arbitration (CIMA) in Madrid.
Since 1989, CIMA has provided national and international arbitration services for the resolution of commercial disputes across economic sectors. The CIMA arbitration rules were updated in 2010 with default procedures geared to efficient dispute settlement. CIMA is equipped to handle both domestic and international disputes under Spanish or foreign law.
White & Case has extensive experience in Spain-related disputes and Spanish-language arbitrations, with a dedicated Spain practice group and a proven international approach to Spanish language disputes before local arbitral institutions and under local law.
The CIMA appointment of Hamilton, who is a member of White & Case’s Spain practice committee, reflects the rise of local arbitral institutions for the resolution of international disputes, a trend seen both in Spain and Latin America. Most recently, White & Case has advised on multiple disputes related to Spain involving investment flows in and out of Spain, particularly in Latin America.
