Overview

Mr. Koster is a partner in the Firm's Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Group. He has experience in various aspects of bankruptcy law, including the representation of agent banks, senior lenders, indenture trustees, hedge funds, ad hoc creditor groups, directors, unsecured noteholders and other interested parties in both chapter 11 proceedings and large out-of-court workouts. Mr. Koster was selected in 2013-2019 as a Super Lawyers NY Metro Rising Star.

Prior to joining White & Case in 2010, Mr. Koster served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judith Wizmur of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.

Represented the prospective debtor-in-possession lenders and plan co-sponsors in their effort to purchase Aegean Marine Petroleum Network, Inc. through its chapter 11 case.

Represented the agent and lender under a loan facility secured by two specialized offshore support vessels in the chapter 11 cases of Toisa Limited and its affiliated debtors.

Represented agent for senior lenders holding over $500 million of secured loans in attempted out-of-court restructuring and chapter 11 proceedings of Primorsk International Shipping Limited and its affiliated debtors.

Unsecured creditor group
Represented the ad hoc group of TCEH unsecured noteholders, comprised of holders of approximately $2.7 billion of unsecured notes issued by Texas Competitive Electric Holdings Company, LLC, in the chapter 11 cases of Energy Future Holdings Corp. and its subsidiaries.

Unsecured creditor group
Represented the ad hoc group of LBHI noteholders in the chapter 11 cases of Lehman Brothers Holdings, Inc. and its affiliated debtors.

Secured creditor group
Represented the ad hoc group of LightSquared LP secured lenders, comprised of holders of approximately $1.5 billion of secured loans made to LightSquared LP, in the chapter 11 cases of LightSquared Inc. and its subsidiaries.

Hedge fund
Represented large hedge fund in commencing the first involuntary pre-packaged bankruptcy case in the United States in Zais Investment Grade Limited VII.
