Biography

Overview

Ms. Femino is an associate in the Firm's Financial Restructuring & Insolvency practice. Her work involves the coordination of multi-jurisdictional restructurings, with a particular focus on cross-border reorganization and Latin American insolvencies and a developed expertise in chapter 15 proceedings. Ms. Femino also has experience in restructuring matters involving state-issued debt, and has worked on several of the decade's highest-profile pharmaceutical company bankruptcies, including those of Purdue Pharma and J&J subsidiary LTL.
 
Ms. Femino has been nationally recognized for her publication of innovative legal theories. In 2014 her first publication, featured in the Yale Law Journal, was lauded as the best note of the year on a bankruptcy topic, and in 2017 she received the Burton Distinguished Legal Writing Award for her article proposing a contractual solution to competing foreign insolvency proceedings.

Experience

  • Purdue Pharma – representing the Ad Hoc Group of Individual Victims in the chapter 11 bankruptcy of Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of Oxycontin.
  • Constellation Oil & Gas – represented the Brazilian oil and gas company Constellation (formerly Queiroz Galvão O&G) in its global restructuring of USD 1.5 billion in funded debt, which included contested chapter 15 proceedings in the United States.
  • International Bank of Azerbaijan – represented the Bank in its restructuring of USD 2.3 billion of financial indebtedness in its chapter 15 case, the first in the United States to win recognition for an Azerbaijani restructuring. 
  • Oi S.A. – represented Brazilian telecom giant Oi S.A. in its global restructuring of USD 19 billion of debt, featuring the largest bankruptcy filing in Brazilian history and a highly contested chapter 15 proceeding of the company's Dutch financing subsidiary.
