Tom is a finance lawyer who focuses on project finance, reserve-based lending, Islamic finance, commodity-based financings, export finance and other structured finance transactions.

He has particular experience in large complex multi-sourced project financings in Europe, the Middle East and Africa involving project bondholders, Islamic banks, commercial banks, export credit agencies and development financial institutions. Tom's focus is on oil & gas financings across the value-chain.

Saudi Aramco US$10 billion Revolving Credit Facilities

Advised Saudi Arabian Oil Company on its landmark US$10 billion revolving credit facilities which are divided into two US dollar conventional tranches (in an aggregate value of US$7 billion) and two Saudi Riyal murabaha tranches (in an aggregate value of US$3 billion). The shari'ah compliant murabaha facilities represent the largest ever Saudi Riyal financing of its kind.

Sadara Chemical Complex

Advised Saudi Aramco on the US$12.5 billion project financing of the world-scale integrated Sadara chemical complex in Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia. The transaction involved financing from seven export credit agencies, including COFACE, Euler Hermes, FIEM, KEXIM, K-sure, UK Export Finance and US Ex-Im Bank, as well as a diverse range of commercial banks and Islamic financial institutions (participating in both wakala and procurement funding structures). This transaction is the largest-ever project financing in the chemicals sector and was selected as 2013 Global Finance Deal of the Year: Project Finance (Middle East) by The American Lawyer, as 2013 Project Finance Deal of the Year (Middle East) by International Financial Law Review and as 2013 Middle East Petrochemical Deal of the Year by Project Finance International magazine.

Petrobras Oil & Gas B.V.

Advising the mandated lead arrangers in respect of the up to US$1.5 billion reserve based lending financing for Petrobras Oil & Gas B.V. of oil and gas assets in offshore Nigeria.

Leviathan Field – Upstream Gas Financing

Advising Noble Energy in respect of the proposed project financing of its interest in the Leviathan Field.

Mangara oil field, Republic of Chad

Advised the mandated lead arrangers in respect of a reserves-based facility of up to US$250 million in respect of the Mangara/Badila oil fields, Republic of Chad.

Core Energy Upstream Oil & Gas Finance

Advising the mandated lead arrangers in respect of a reserves-based finance facility provided to Core Energy AS, a Norwegian oil & gas company.

Nord Stream Gas Pipeline Project

Advised Nord Stream AG in connection with Phase 1 of the €9bn Nord Stream gas pipeline project connecting the Russian and European gas grids which raised €6.5bn of debt in the international project finance market. Phase I of the project was selected as European Gas Deal of the Year by Project Finance International magazine, European Midstream Oil & Gas Deal of the Year by Project Finance magazine and as Oil & Gas Deal of the Year by Infrastructure Journal. As a result of White & Case's work on this project, we were also awarded Infrastructure/Energy Team of the Year by The Lawyer.
