Mr. Haussila’s international corporate finance and transactional practice encompasses securities offerings, debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, international joint ventures and general corporate matters for Finnish and multinational companies and financial institutions.   He has extensive experience practicing in New York and London, as well as in Helsinki. Mr. Haussila is a member of the Firm’s Partnership Committee.

In capital markets transactions, Mr. Haussila represents issuers, underwriters, placement agents and lenders in a wide variety of financings, including public offerings and private placements in the international and U.S. debt and equity markets.   Mr. Haussila has acted extensively for companies making Rule 144A offerings and initial public offerings that involve listing of the shares of the issuers on the Helsinki and New York Stock Exchanges, including a Finnish multinational chemicals company, a Norwegian commercial bank, a Finnish multinational manufacturer of paper machinery and a Finnish engineering group.

Mr. Haussila also advises major Finnish corporations and financial institutions in connection with syndicated credit facilities, bilateral credit agreements and other international financing arrangements, and assists international banks as managers or agents in connection with syndicated credit facilities and other financing arrangements.

Mr. Haussila has significant experience representing Finnish and foreign clients in mergers and acquisitions. He has also advised non-Finnish clients on the structuring and establishment of operations in Finland.

Since the opening of the Helsinki office of White & Case in 1992, Mr. Haussila has also handled a variety of general corporate matters for both Finnish and non-Finnish companies.   He has assisted a trading company on a project for financing and leasing equipment to local joint venture companies in Russia and the Baltic republics; worked with a major Finnish industrial conglomerate in restructuring its international operations; and assisted the first Chinese trading company to establish Finnish operations.  He has advised on projects in the forestry, pharmaceutical and construction industries.

Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Haussila practiced in New York and London from 1984 through 1992 and with a Finnish law firm from 1978 through 1983.
