Chris Wells Elected Chairman Of AIMA Tokyo
Tokyo,
March 5, 2010 ... Christopher Wells, partner in White & Case's Tokyo office and coordinator of the Tokyo Financial Services Group, Tokyo, was appointed as Chairman of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) Tokyo on 4 March 2010.
Mr. Wells has been actively involved in AIMA's activities in Tokyo since 2002, most recently as Chairman of AIMA's Japan Regulatory Subcommittee.
"I am delighted to be appointed to help lead AIMA's operations in Japan," said Mr. Wells, "AIMA continues to be an influential and well respected organization in the region and is looked to by both the business community and regulators for best practice and industry knowledge."
Mr. Wells' proposals for the organization for 2010 include further cooperation with the Financial Services Agency, the Bank of Japan and the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry on regulatory, tax and inspection policy towards hedge and private equity funds operating in Japan. Investor education about developments in other jurisdictions will also be a priority.
White & Case continues to be involved in AIMA operations across the region. Sharon Hartline, partner in the Investment Funds practice in Hong Kong is a member of the Hong Kong Regulatory Subcommittee and regularly speaks and participates at AIMA events in Hong Kong.
