Derivatives Leader Joins White & Case's Securities Practice

New York, May 5, 2008 ... Global law firm White & Case LLP today announced the lateral hire of Ian Cuillerier as a partner in its Capital Markets/Securities Practice in New York. A recognized leader in the area of derivatives, Cuillerier will work in the practice's Structured Finance Group.

"Derivatives and derivative-based transactions have become increasingly important to the financial markets. We are looking forward to the wealth of insight and experience Ian brings to the practice," said Gary Kashar, co-head of White & Case's New York Securities Practice.

Cuillerier's practice focuses on a range of over-the-counter and exchange-traded derivative instruments. His clients include investment and commercial banks, corporations and hedge funds, in addition to issuers, investors and lenders in US and cross-border debt and equity financings.

"The international platform that White & Case offers will allow me to take advantage of new opportunities and contribute to an area of the Firm that has become a focal point in the current US economy," said Cuillerier.

Cuillerier joins the Firm at a time of significant accomplishment for its Securities Practice. The practice recently served as lead counsel to Visa on its record-setting $19.7 billion initial public offering, the largest in US history. The practice also recently represented Canada Housing Trust and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation in connection with the sale of $11 billion of government-backed Canada Mortgage Bonds, one of the largest sales of AAA-rated bonds by an entity other than a US government-related issuer and the largest bond issue in Canadian history. In addition, the practice was ranked No. 1 for deal value as issuer adviser in the US equity offerings and US and global IPO categories of Bloomberg's 2008 Q1 Americas and Global Legal Adviser League Tables.

"The expansion of our US derivatives practice through Ian's arrival, combined with our strong derivatives presence in the UK, will enable us to offer a unique cross-border practice to our clients," said Richard Reilly, global co-head of the White & Case's Securitization Group and a member of its Investment Funds Practice.

Cuillerier was previously co-head of the derivatives practice at Hunton & Williams in New York. Prior to joining Hunton, he was an associate at McCarthy Tetrault in Montreal, Canada.

White & Case's Capital Markets/Securities Practice comprises more than 75 lawyers in New York and more than 275 lawyers worldwide. In addition to the Bloomberg rankings, the group is recognized as a global market leader by such other legal publications as Chambers USA, IFLR 1000, Legal 500 UK and PLC Which Lawyer?
