White & Case Partner Karen Asner Receives Burton Award for Distinguished Legal Writing

Sixth Straight Year White & Case Lawyers Honored

New York, June 4, 2007 ... Karen M. Asner, partner in White & Case's New York office, has been named recipient of a 2007 Burton Award for Legal Writing Excellence, marking the sixth consecutive year that a White & Case lawyer has won the award.

Asner is a commercial litigator and the Firm's global administrative partner, in which role she oversees all administrative aspects of the Firm's 35 offices and helps shape firm culture, policies and strategic business objectives. She was recognized by the Burton Foundation for the article, "Where the Women Are," published on Law.com's ongoing IN FOCUS article series.

The article, which ran last July, addresses the challenges of attracting, promoting and retaining women lawyers and the Firm's initiatives to respond to these challenges. It was one of Karen's regular series appearing on Law.com about large firm management.

Karen plays a significant role in our ongoing women's advancement initiatives and I am pleased she has been granted a Burton Award for her article on women's issues relating to the legal profession," said Duane Wall, Managing Partner of White & Case.

In addition to the Burton Award given to Asner, a special award was granted to Richard H. Walker, General Counsel of Deutsche Bank AG, who was named as one of five "Legends in the Law", a first-time award given to in-house counsel by the Burton Foundation. Walker was nominated for the award by White & Case in recognition for his dedicated service in both the public and private sectors.

Asner and Walker will be honored at the 2007 Burton Awards program, which will be held at the Great Hall of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC on Monday, June 4.
