White & Case in Top Ten of AmLaw's 2008 Global 100
October 8, 2008, American Lawyer
White & Case has again been ranked among the largest law firms in the world by American Lawyer's prestigious Global 100 survey.
The 2008 survey ranks White & Case as the 10th-largest firm by revenue ($1.373 billion in 2007); this was the same rank the Firm received in 2006, on revenues of approximately $1.046 billion. White & Case was one of only 17 firms in the world to earn more than $1 billion in 2007.
The Firm was also ranked 9th-largest by number of lawyers - 1,971 lawyers at the time of the survey. This compares to the 6th place ranking for 1,783 lawyers in 2006. Most notably, the accompanying article about the rankings cites White & Case as one of the few US-founded firms that can be expected to weather the current financial storm better than most.
The Global 100 ranks the largest law firms in the world in a variety of categories - gross revenue, profits per partner, and number of equity partners - and is frequently used as a benchmark by the legal community. The survey is compiled from headcount and financial information voluntarily provided by law firms to American Lawyer and by research done by American Lawyer staff.
