White & Case has been active in Saudi Arabia since the 1950s and the Firm's on-the-ground presence in the country dates back to 1989. Through our association with Dr. Waleed N. Al-Nuwaiser in Riyadh we offer clients a dedicated team on the ground that is able to provide both Saudi Arabian and international legal capabilities and which can harness the resources of a truly global firm with a presence in 27 countries.
Dr. N. Waleed Al-Nuwaiser was established in 2005 by Dr. Al-Nuwaiser, a King Saud University, Berkeley and Harvard Law School-educated lawyer, who holds a joint Ph.D in Law (JSD) from Harvard Law School and SMU (Southern Methodist University). Prior to setting up the Firm, Dr. Al-Nuwaiser served as General Legal Counsel of the Al Faisaliah Group, a well-known Saudi conglomerate.
Our Riyadh office is currently staffed with 12 legal professionals, including six resident partners, who advise international investors and lenders, private companies, the Saudi government and Saudi public institutions on a range of issues including:
- M&A and corporate and commercial law;
- Inward investment;
- Energy and infrastructure projects and Public-Private Partnerships;
- Finance and Project Finance (including Islamic finance);
- Saudi Arabian Capital Market Authority regulations;
- International trade and WTO issues; and
- Dispute resolution (including representation in the Saudi courts).
The team in Riyadh can also call on support from a wider group of more than 20+ experienced lawyers from a range of nationalities based in our other GCC offices in Abu Dhabi and Doha, plus the resources of more than 2,200 lawyers across the Firm worldwide.
This strength in depth means it is no surprise that businesses around the world choose White & Case to advise them on their commercial challenges across the Middle East and North Africa, including in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Qatar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
