Washington, DC: Joseph Angland (New York) participated in a panel presentation, "Ethics: 'Strange Bedfellows' - Ethical Considerations with Joint Defense Agreements in Civil & Criminal Antitrust Cases", exploring the ethical issues that arise in the context of joint defense agreements and assertion of a common interest privilege. Christopher Curran (Washington, DC) was invited and authored the accompanying paper; J. Mark Gidley (Washington, DC) presented and participated in the panel discussion with the Antitrust Division and the private bar on "Ethics: Between a Rock and a Hard Place: The Ethical and Strategic Pitfalls in Representing Individual Targets in International Criminal Antitrust Cases. This panel presentation addressed the difficulties in representing individuals caught between the competing demands of the DOJ and their employers. Rebecca Farrington (Washington, DC) participated in "What Can You Do With Your Equity Interest in a Competitor?," a panel session which discussed recent development in enforcement of the Clayton Act's prohibition on interlocking directorates, the delicate issues with board participation, information sharing, and potential market allocation under Section 1 of the Sherman Act.
