Practice Experience
Alexander W. Woody joined White & Case in September 2000. Prior to joining the Firm, he worked for five years at a leading Hawaii law firm and for three years at a leading Japanese law firm. Mr. Woody's practice concentrates on energy project development and financing. He has extensive experience advising clients on energy project investments and joint ventures, LNG sale and purchase agreements, LNG transportation arrangements and LNG vessel financing.

Recent projects in which Mr. Woody has been involved include: 
  • Advising clients with respect to LNG sale and purchase agreements, transportation arrangements and upstream participation in LNG projects located in Australia, the Middle East and Indonesia; 
  • Advising a consortium of Japanese companies with respect to the financing, construction, operation and chartering of newbuild LNG tankers; 
  • Advising Japanese buyers with respect to long-term and spot LNG sale and purchase agreements; and 
  • Advising Japanese companies with respect to potential investments in North American LNG receiving facilities.

Mr. Woody has also advised on numerous merger and acquisition transactions and joint ventures, including: 
  • Advising a leading Japanese bank on the acquisition of insurance companies through a joint venture; 
  • Advising a leading European bank on the acquisition of a Japanese asset management company; and 
  • Advising a leading Japanese electronics manufacturer on the sale of factories in Japan and abroad.
