Practice Experience
Eduardo is an English and Spanish qualified lawyer. Eduardo specialises in structured finance, covering different products and structures. He also has sound experience on multijurisdictional capital markets deals acting for the arranger, both conventional (EMTNs, Certificates of deposit) and Islamic finance (Sukuks and Islamic CDOs). In addition, Eduardo's experience also covers acting for the rating agency in CMBS and other structured finance products. His international experience includes 5 months in a top Indian law firm in Delhi in 2003. Prior to joining the firm in October 2007, Eduardo worked in the finance group of an international US law firm in London. Eduardo qualified in the international securities group of a top UK law firm in December 2005.
Recently, Eduardo Barrachina has spent six months in the Frankfurt office dealing with English law issues in international and German finance deals.
Examples of recent representations include:
Acted for the collateral manager in Scute Bali B.V., a managed portfolio CLO transaction;
Assisted a German insurer in an issue of Schuldschein loans backed by a managed portfolio;
Represented Desdner Kleinwort and HSBC as co-arrangers and dealers in connection with the US$1 billion London listed Sukuk Certificate Issuance Programme for Gulf Finance House BSC, and in connection with an issue under the programme. This landmark transaction was the winner of the Islamic Finance News 2007 award for Best Country deal in Bahrain;
Represented Desdner Kleinwort, JP Morgan, Standard Chartered Bank, UBS Investment Bank and Audi Saudi Arabia in connection with the US$2 billion London listed EMTN Programme for Global Investment House KSCC, a leading Kuwaiti financial institution;
Represented a US investment bank in the arranging of a US$15 million Islamic CDO;
Represented Standard & Poor’s in Epic ( Barchester) plc Commercial Mortgage-Backed Floating Rate Notes;
Represented ING on the US$225 million Commercial Backed Floating Rate Note; and
Acted on the update of a US$300 million Certificates of Deposit Programe for BankMed.
