Practice Experience
Endrik Lettau's main areas of practice are real estate-related transactions, such as corporate and fiscal project structuring, real estate sales and acquisitions, finance and leasing transactions as well as construction.
Mr. Lettau is particularly active in providing legal advice to foreign investors on their activities in the German real property market. He advises US and British clients especially in the various branches of the real estate industry, including financial institutions, international real estate developers, corporations, and end users.
In addition to property developers, these international investors include investment banks and other financial institutions, corporate real estate portfolios and corporate retailers. Mr. Lettau advises, for example, international hotel groups on long-term leasing and operating contracts for various hotel projects in Germany.
Mr. Lettau has developed a significant practice in providing advice on real estate ventures in which the investor enters into long-term leases of buildings not yet planned and/or built. Such legal advice is sought by various types of end users, including, in particular, the hotel business, global retailers, operators of sports and fitness facilities, as well as telecommunications and entertainment companies.
In addition to advising clients throughout the various stages of the project realization, Mr. Lettau counsels international and domestic clients during the initial stages of corporate and fiscal structuring, e.g., the forming of joint ventures, the setting up of special purpose vehicles for such real estate ventures, and securing financing for real estate projects, primarily through leveraged financing tools.
Mr. Lettau heads the Firm's European real estate practice (EREP) as well as the German real estate practice of White & Case.
