Practice Experience
Mr. Genova is an intellectual property attorney with emphasis on U.S. and foreign patent law. A registered U.S. patent attorney, he has experience in the development of patent strategies and the protection of intellectual property rights on the international level.
He has particular experience in prosecution, agreements, litigation and counseling with U.S. and non-U.S. corporate clients.
In the past, Mr. Genova has been involved in patent matters relating to diverse areas of technology including chemicals, films, fibers, metallocene catalysts, photoresists and engineering plastics encompassing a broad class of polymers and applications in consumer products, medical equipment and the automotive, electrical and electronic industries.
On behalf of U.S. and Japanese joint venture partners, he was involved in a concurrent patent litigation pending before the U.S. District Court, International Trade Commission, U.K. High Court and European Patent Office where the technical subject matter was polyphenylene sulfide.
Mr. Genova has also negotiated a number of technology-driven agreements.
Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Genova was patent counsel for the engineering plastics and R&D divisions of the U.S. subsidiary of a German chemical company headquartered in Frankfurt, where he completed an expatriate assignment in the Patent and Licensing Department. Earlier, he was an associate with a New York patent litigation firm.
