Jaroslav Kudrna is an associate in the International Arbitration group of White & Case LLP, based in the New York office. Jaroslav focuses on international commercial arbitration and investment treaty arbitration. He has experience practicing under the major arbitration rules (ICSID, ICC, ICDR/AAA, LCIA) in various jurisdictions, including New York, France, Switzerland and England. He has served as counsel in arbitrations involving both common and civil laws, and has particular experience with disputes involving energy sector (distribution and supply of electricity, long-term gas supply contracts), sale of goods and competition law.
Jaroslav also advises on jurisdiction, conflict of laws and public international law matters, and assists with drafting and interpretation of dispute resolution clauses and waivers of sovereign immunity.
Prior to joining White & Case LLP in New York, Jaroslav trained in leading law firms in Paris and Prague, and undertook a clerkship with Judge Jérôme Pierre (President of 1st chamber) in the Paris Commercial Court.
Jaroslav obtained an LL.M. in the International Business Regulation, Litigation and Arbitration program at the New York University School of Law. He graduated with the award for distinction and served as a graduate editor at the NYU Journal of International Law and Politics. He earned a Master of Laws degree from the Sciences Po Paris Law School, a Master of European Economic Law, cum laude, from the University of Strasbourg, and a Diploma of International Business Dispute Settlement, summa cum laude, from the University Paris-Est Créteil. Jaroslav is currently a PhD candidate in public international law at Charles University in Prague.

Represented a Taiwanese manufacturer in an ICDR arbitration seated in New York related to the sale of high-tech goods in Asia (the contract was governed by New York law).
Assisted arbitral tribunals in gas pricing arbitrations governed by French law and New York law.
Assisted an arbitral tribunal in services agreement dispute governed by Haitian law.
Acted in an ICC arbitration seated in New York concerning mining in Latin America (the contract was governed by Pennsylvania law).
Acted in an ICC arbitration seated in Texas concerning an acquisition in Mexico (the contract was governed by Mexican law).
Advised Eastern European clients on availability of interim measures from New York courts in presence of an arbitration clause providing for a LCIA arbitration seated in London.
Advised a corporate client on interpretation of a waiver of sovereign immunity in preparation of an arbitration against a state.
Advised a client on drafting of a multi-party arbitration clause and a waiver of sovereign immunity in connection with the sale of a corporation in Latin America.
