Overview

Jonny is a Senior Associate in the Firm's Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Group, specialising in business restructuring and insolvency.

Jonny advises debtors, financial creditors, sponsors, bondholders, and directors on all aspects of restructurings and insolvencies. Jonny has particular experience in domestic and cross-border restructuring transactions, distressed investment and debt trading, security analysis and contingency planning, and formal insolvency administrations.

Experience

Acting for the administrators of Virgin Australia, including on the successful restructure and sale of the airline to Bain Capital, and advising on the ongoing trading of the airline while under external administration. *

Advising the administrators in respect of the administration and subsequent liquidation of a mining and infrastructure group of companies including on the related sales of the group's assets out of administration and liquidation. *  

Acting as Australian counsel to the Debtors in respect of the US Chapter 11 proceedings and global restructure of FTX. *

Advising the administrators of pharmaceutical companies Sphere Healthcare and Tabco in respect of the voluntary administration, negotiation and execution of a deed of company arrangement and court application under section 444GA of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth). *

Acting for Collection House Limited, an ASX listed receivable management company, on its successful recapitalisation process. *

Advising a global media and entertainment group in respect of the Australian elements of its global business restructuring. *

Advising an ASX listed marketing group on its restructure and the ultimate solvent wind down of the group. *

Acting for the two monoline insurers (Syncora Guarantee Inc. and FGIC UK Limited) that had credit wrapped Reliance Rail's entire $2 billion debt profile to secure a successful debt restructuring, which involved the insurers being taken off risk. The exposure to Reliance Rail was the insurers' single largest exposure globally.
Advising banks, financial institutions, alternate capital providers, hedge funds, and foreign investors on all aspects of restructuring their debt and equity investments in Australia, including contingency planning, enforcement, debt recovery, turnarounds. *
