Julio Felipe Pantazis joined White & Case in March 2013. He is a Cyprus qualified lawyer and a member of the Firm's EU law practice. His focus is on cartels, State aid and mergers.
Julio represented Aegean Airlines in Aegean/Olympic II, which resulted in the European Commission clearing the deal in a Phase II proceeding. This was the first time that the Commission cleared a merger after it had previously prohibited it.
Prior to joining White & Case, Julio worked for the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU, where he actively participated in the various stages of the legislative process of the European Union: drafting of the assigned regulations, engaging in discussions at expert level in the Council of the EU, and negotiating compromises with the European Parliament on the final text.
He also worked at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission, where he gained antitrust experience within an array of industries.
Julio received a master's degree (LLM) in EU Law and EU Public Law, with Distinction in EU Competition Law, from University College London.
