Overview

Kemal Suffee is a professional support lawyer in the Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group in London. Kemal uses his substantial experience to assist the project finance practice by advising and training practitioners throughout the global network. Prior to moving to the professional support role in 2015, Kemal was a senior associate in the Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group in London, acting for commercial banks, multilateral lending agencies, export credit agencies and borrowers in numerous project finance transactions covering a wide range of sectors including oil and gas, energy, renewables and infrastructure. Kemal also spent one year on secondment at Mizuho Bank, Tokyo, where he worked in the Power and Infrastructure team.

Representing Nord Stream AG in connection with the financing of the US$ 7 billion, 1,200 km, gas pipelines through the Baltic Sea (including financing from commercial banks, Euler Hermes, UFK and SACE) ("2009 European Gas Deal of the Year" by Project Finance Magazine; "2010 European Oil & Gas Midstream Deal of the Year" by Project Finance Magazine; "2011 Infrastructure/Energy Team of the Year" at The Lawyer Awards; and "Project Finance Deal of the Year" at the International Financial Law Review Europe Awards 2011).

Representing JBIC and the international commercial banks in connection with the US$20 billion project financing of the Sakhalin II (Phase 2) integrated oil & gas and LNG Project in Russia.

Representing ASN Bank, Belfius Bank, BNP Paribas Fortis, the European Investment Bank, ING Belgium, KfW Ipex Bank, PensionDanmark, RaboBank International, the Norwegian government, Eksport Kredit Fonden, GIEK, and the Office National du Ducroire/Nationale Delcrederedienst on the €890 million financing of Northwind Offshore Energy's wind project in Belgium's North Sea.

Representing Saudi Aramco on the proposed "giga" project financing of a world-scale integrated petrochemical complex to be located on a site within the perimeter of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu's Al Jubail Industrial City II on the east coast of Saudi Arabia.

Representing the lenders in the project financing of a hotel in Tripoli, Libya's first international project financing.
