Matthew Bornfreund uses legal, practical, and regulatory experience when advising major bank and financial institution clients.
As an associate in the Financial Institutions Advisory practice based in Washington, DC, he advises financial services providers in regulatory, supervisory, compliance, and transactional matters. Matthew advises US organizations as well as international organizations operating in or seeking to enter the US market.
Prior to joining White & Case, Matthew served as an attorney in the Legal Division at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. He analyzed applications and issues related to the Bank Holding Company Act, Home Owners Loan Act, International Banking Act, and Dodd-Frank Act.
In addition to traditional regulatory and compliance matters, his practice focuses on financial technology (fintech), financial innovation, virtual currencies, and cybersecurity. Matthew draws on his previous career as an analyst and IT specialist in order to advise financial institutions as they expand their use of technology.
