Biography

Overview

Omar Hemady is a partner in the Firm's Mergers & Acquisitions practice group. Mr. Hemady's practice focuses on counseling investment advisers and private funds in relation to all aspects of their businesses, including structuring and organizing infrastructure funds, credit funds, hedge funds, venture funds, real estate funds, hybrid funds, cross-over funds, long-dated/permanent capital vehicles, bespoke vehicles, fund-of-funds and funds-of-one.

Additionally, he provides strategic advice to sponsors of private funds with an emphasis on "upper tier" entity structures in which he advises sponsors on corporate governance, compensation planning, and buy-out arrangements. With over 15 years experience in the investment management space, he has significant experience in advising both sponsors and investors on seed capital and revenue sharing transactions, minority and majority asset acquisitions and strategic equity investments.  

Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Hemady was a partner in the Investment Management Group of a large international law firm. Most recently, he was General Counsel at a multi-sector private credit investment manager.

An established registered investment advisers in connection with recent successful launch of a number of infrastructure funds focused on the food, water, waste and (both traditional and renewable) energy sectors, as well as, industrial and transportation sectors.

A quantitative hedge fund in connection with significant seed capital transaction from family office and launch of fund structure.

A credit-oriented hedge fund manager in connection with its bankruptcy, restructuring and regulatory matters relating to its funds and management entities.

A newly established venture capital firm in connection with recent successful launch of early and growth-stage funds.

A biotech/healthcare-focused investment advisory firm in connection with the structuring and launch of funds that focus on both early stage and late-stage private investments.

Institutional and private fund managers, including long-only, fixed income, long-short equity, quantitative, emerging/frontier markets, credit/distressed credit, venture capital, growth equity and fund-of-funds in ongoing regulatory and compliance matters.

A private credit investment adviser as regulatory counsel to on its sale of a minority interest to a global investment management firm.
