Paul uses his extensive commercial litigation experience to help clients to navigate complex domestic and international disputes.

An accomplished litigator and advisor, Paul has represented and counseled global industry leaders in connection with a wide range of litigation and arbitration matters, including allegations of fraud and misrepresentation, breach of contract, business torts, securities fraud, RICO, multi-forum and complex litigation, bankruptcy and class actions.

Committed to helping his clients achieve the best possible outcomes, Paul has contributed to a number of ground-breaking cases, including the first ever jury verdict in favor of a third-party payer against the tobacco industry.

US and international clients from a broad spectrum of business sectors, from pharmaceuticals, energy and health insurance to construction, agriculture and manufacturing, have benefitted from Paul's extensive experience navigating complex cross-border disputes.

Sandoz Inc.

Advised in connection with a complex, multi-district commercial litigation involving numerous actions brought by state Attorneys General alleging false Medicaid claims, common law fraud and consumer deception, based on the reporting of allegedly inflated average wholesale prices (AWPs) for pharmaceutical products.

Deutsche Bank

Advised on litigation risk related to several potential loan and other financial transactions, including syndicate lending arrangements.

Banking, private equity and hedge fund clients

Advised in connection with various indemnification and/or breach-of-contract claims relating to failed merger and acquisition, lending and other financial transactions.

Royal Bank of Canada

Advised on various securities fraud class action suits relating to financial transactions involving Enron and a concomitant bankruptcy adversary proceeding involving the same allegations.

Solidere

Advised a Lebanese construction firm in connection with an action, filed in Delaware federal court, seeking a preliminary injunction to enjoin an international arbitration proceeding abroad.

Russian businessman

Defended civil RICO claims brought in Massachusetts federal court against a Russian businessman, by various business partners, in connection with the acquisition of a Ukrainian mining interest.

Brown Brothers Harriman

Advised in connection with multidistrict litigation brought by the descendants of African-American slaves seeking restitution from various businesses for the institution of slavery.

Blue Cross/ Blue Shield health insurers

Provided trial counsel to a coalition of health insurers in connection with a ten-week jury trial against various cigarette manufacturers, seeking damages for costs incurred in treating smoking-related illnesses. This landmark trial resulted in the first-ever jury verdict in favor of a third-party payer against the tobacco industry.
